What is the Doña Ana County Comprehensive Safety Action Plan?

In 2023, Doña Ana County secured funding from a federal Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant to develop a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan (SAP) that aims to reduce fatal and serious injury deaths on Doña Ana County roads.

This plan is an important step towards improving safety for drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists on our roads.

The SAP will be informed by data on where crashes have occurred in the past and locations identified by community members, and will identify and prioritize safety improvements to reduce the frequency and severity of crashes in Doña Ana County.

The SAP focuses on the non-Interstate roads and highways for all parts of Doña Ana County outside of the City of Las Cruces.

The City of Las Cruces received a grant to pursue its own Safety Action Plan -- to begin in late 2024.
